Ownership and protected material

Unless otherwise noted, content published by The Newton Community is owned by or used with authorization by Tredeau Design, LLC. Protected material includes articles, headlines, photographs, illustrations, artwork, graphics, logos, magazine covers, page designs, editorial layouts, video, and website content. Publication online does not place that material in the public domain.

Sharing links and brief excerpts

You are welcome to share links to stories and official social-media posts. When legally permitted, you may quote a reasonable, brief portion with clear attribution to The Newton Community and a link to the original story. A quotation should not substitute for the original work, reproduce its essential value, or imply endorsement.

Personal keepsakes

You may print a story for private reading. If you or an immediate family member were featured, you may create a reasonable personal, noncommercial keepsake, retain or frame a personal copy for display in a home or private office, and give a small number of noncommercial copies to immediate family members.

Personal-use permission does not transfer copyright ownership. It also does not authorize a plaque company, printer, framer, marketer, publisher, or other third party to independently reproduce, market, or sell the material. A featured person cannot grant a vendor rights that the person does not own.

Uses that require written permission

Before any of the following uses, obtain written permission from Tredeau Design, LLC:

• Reproduce complete articles or magazine pages commercially.
• Manufacture or sell plaques, framed articles, posters, prints, signs, canvases, books, apparel, gifts, or other merchandise containing publication content.
• Use photographs, illustrations, artwork, graphics, magazine covers, editorial layouts, or page designs commercially.
• Contact story subjects or featured businesses to sell products based on their appearance in The Newton Community.
• Use The Newton Community name, logo, magazine design, or visual identity in a way that suggests approval, sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation.
• Republish content on another website, magazine, newsletter, book, database, app, video, or commercial publication; or syndicate, sublicense, resell, or commercially distribute it.
• Scrape or compile substantial portions of the site for a competing publication, commercial database, mailing list, automated content service, or machine-learning dataset.
• Remove or obscure copyright notices, credits, watermarks, or source information.

Name, logo, and publication design

Do not use The Newton Community name, logo, covers, distinctive magazine design, editorial layouts, or visual identity in a way that is likely to create a false impression of approval, sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation. Credit or attribution alone does not create permission for a commercial use.

Request a license or permission

Email scott@thenewtonmagazine.com before using protected material. Identify the story, issue, image, or design; describe the proposed use, audience, format, quantity, duration, territory, and whether money or promotion is involved; and include your contact information. Permission is effective only when Tredeau Design, LLC provides it in writing. A request does not itself grant permission.

Report suspected infringement

Send reports to scott@thenewtonmagazine.com. Please include as much of the following as available:

• Seller or company name.
• Listing, store, social profile, or website link.
• Screenshots or photographs.
• The story, issue, page, image, or other work involved.
• Date and method of solicitation.
• Relevant emails, invoices, text messages, direct messages, advertisements, or sales materials.

Please provide accurate information and do not send sensitive data that is unnecessary to evaluate the report. This reporting address is not a statement that any person is a registered DMCA agent.

Response to unauthorized use

Tredeau Design, LLC may investigate and may contact sellers, marketplaces, hosting providers, social platforms, payment processors, domain providers, search services, or other providers regarding suspected unauthorized use. It may request removal, disablement, preservation of records, seller information where lawful, or other appropriate action.

Tredeau Design, LLC reserves all rights and applicable legal remedies. Nothing in this policy limits rights or exceptions available under applicable law.
