Who this policy covers

The Newton Community is published by Tredeau Design, LLC. This policy explains information practices for thenewtoncommunity.com, communications sent on its behalf, and information submitted to the publication. It does not govern an outside service’s independent practices.

Information you provide

We may receive information you voluntarily submit through contact forms, story submissions, advertising inquiries, newsletter signups, email, and telephone. Depending on what you send, this can include names, email addresses, telephone numbers, business or organization names, messages, photographs, story information, and attachments.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information that is not necessary for the purpose of your communication.

Technical information and cookies

WordPress, hosting infrastructure, security tools, analytics services, and embedded features may process technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring source, pages viewed, timestamps, interactions, and approximate location inferred from an IP address. Cookies and similar technologies may support site operation, preferences, analytics, embedded content, and email measurement.

You can use browser controls to limit cookies, although some site or embedded features may not work as intended.

Google Analytics and Analytify

The site uses Google Analytics to help understand how visitors find and use the website. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies and process information such as pages viewed, referring sources, device and browser information, approximate location, and interactions. Analytify is the WordPress interface or integration used to view Google Analytics information in the site dashboard; it does not change Google’s role as the analytics service.

Google’s processing is governed by its own policies. Where available, visitors may use browser privacy controls or Google’s analytics opt-out tools.

Google Search Console

Google Search Console provides website owners with aggregate search-performance, indexing, and technical information, such as search queries that led to the site, impressions, clicks, page indexing, and site errors. It is not described here as a separate advertising tracker installed on every visitor’s device.

Constant Contact and email subscriptions

When you subscribe to newsletters or story alerts, information such as your name and email address may be sent to Constant Contact for list management and delivery. Constant Contact may process delivery status, bounces, opens, clicks, and unsubscribe requests so we can operate and improve email communications. Each marketing email should provide an unsubscribe method. Transactional or direct responses may still be sent when appropriate.

How information is used

We may use information to:

• Respond to questions, story ideas, advertising inquiries, licensing requests, privacy requests, and reports.
• Evaluate, research, edit, photograph, produce, publish, and promote editorial content.
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the website.
• Deliver newsletters and story alerts, manage subscriptions, and understand engagement.
• Administer advertising, sponsorship, contributor, vendor, and business relationships.
• Protect rights, safety, property, and the integrity of the publication; prevent misuse; and comply with legal obligations.

Tredeau Design, LLC does not sell personal information for money.

Service providers and editorial collaborators

Information may be shared as reasonably necessary with providers that support WordPress hosting, security, forms, email delivery, analytics, storage, communications, issue viewing, and other site functions. Editors, writers, photographers, designers, and contractors may receive relevant information when needed to evaluate or produce a story, arrange an interview or photograph, respond to a request, or perform services.

These recipients may have their own legal obligations and, when acting for Tredeau Design, LLC, are expected to use information for the applicable work.

Legal disclosures and business changes

Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process; protect rights, safety, or property; investigate fraud, abuse, or security issues; enforce agreements; or respond to a valid rights report. Information may also be transferred as part of a merger, sale, reorganization, financing, or transfer of publication assets, subject to applicable law.

Publicly published editorial information

If you participate in a story or submit material for publication, approved information may become public, including your name, business or organization, quotations, photographs, biographical information, and story details. Public content can be copied, shared, indexed, archived, or viewed by others outside our control. Contact us if you believe published information requires correction or review; we will consider the request under editorial standards and applicable law but cannot promise removal from third-party copies or archives.

Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the site, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Information is retained for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including editorial records, publication archives, communications, business administration, security, disputes, and legal obligations. Retention periods vary by type and context.

Children’s privacy

The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly use the site to collect personal information online from children under 13 without appropriate authorization. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information should contact us so we can review the matter. Editorial coverage of minors may be handled through appropriate communications with a parent, guardian, school, organization, or other authorized source.

External links and embedded content

Outside websites and embedded content—such as videos, social posts, maps, forms, advertisements, or digital issue viewers—may collect information under their own policies.
